Gallery interested in exploitation

Thanks for checkin' out my work

I wanted to respond and reflect on our meeting.

What stands out in my mind, as i think of our conversation... is not your affirmation that I have "chops", and need focus, though I do appreciate your positive praise. Rather, what is bold in my mind is your statement that some artists might see an idea from another artist and steal it, as in the doily drawing in my collection that you enjoyed, or the 8 tracks.

John Lennon put it well, "there is nothing you can sing that hasn't been sung".
We are in constant evolution. And all we have to draw from is our past, right?

With that in mind: An artist who takes from another artist, but makes it there own, makes it art and possibly even evolving the art.

However...
Any artist who has the complete intention to steal an idea from someone, in order to maintain or create the facade of being an original, is not an artist at all ! They only imitate. & Though some of those "artist" may receive momentary recognition for the art, they do not enjoy the real rewards of innovation.
But who cares about that? $$

*I can only hope that those "artist" fall pray to being dependent on that crutch, and that they are fully discovered and put out of their misery.

Even Deeper:
I ask {Does a celebrated, "original" artist, once upon discovery, become complacent and stop challenging and inventing?
Hell no !  — At least not the ones who are made of true grit, the ones that last forever (if such a thing exists).

There is a great honor in being an artist. And part of the honor is in the intention to discover, invent and create. Some may categorize that with being a rebel, as you called it, because it is a challenge to the things excepted.
If that is true and we are the rebels then i must warn everyone—
Those who mimic the rebel miss the opportunity to be one themselves.
And that goes for those who are consumed with "discovering" the rebel as well.

Copy that?

Folowed the intructions...and it is complete

This mural is "complete" as much as it will ever be. Though it was done with a quickness, not with much attention, it got more than it deserved. ... i hope it lives a good life on its on.
Covered by others in due time
so it goes.

A last mural in NC, as i head west, to Los Angeles.
